The opportunity
We’re looking for a Cancer Screening Project Officer to join our Cancer Education and Screening team.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of the Bowel Cancer Screening Education and Promotion (BCSP) project, as well as the broader objectives of promoting and providing education to consumers on the other national cancer screening programs as well as symptom awareness for the early detection of cancer.
This role requires strong public-speaking skills and will be expected to present, hold discussions and facilitate engagement with community groups.
Based in Subiaco, this position is part-time (0.5 FTE) with some flexibility to spread work hours across the week. The position also includes occasional out of hours work. This position is fixed-term until February 2026.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting and/or coordinating the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of BCSP activities, including campaigns, community presentations and outreach work.
- Providing project and resource development support to BCSP and the broader Cancer Education and Screening team.
- Continuously monitoring and analysing the project process and status of activities.
- Work with project coordinator(s) to identify areas for growth and development.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Representing Cancer Council WA at appropriate meetings, seminars and other events (including outside of usual business hours).
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in health, health promotion, public health, education or allied health
- Demonstrated 2+ years’ experience in a project role
- Previous experience in education activity/event coordinator inclusive of planning, delivery and stakeholder engagement
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Proven organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
- Presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Knowledge of cancer control/or cancer care issues (desirable)
- Understanding of the Western Australian health system (desirable)
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
