The opportunity
This role is responsible for coordinating research and evaluation projects for the LiveLighter ® campaign.
Working within the Cancer Prevention and Research division, reporting to the Food and Movement Programs Manager, this role will work in collaboration with the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer to disseminate research results in the form of high-level research reports and journal articles and coordinate conference presentations on behalf of the team. You will also liaise with investigators and partner organisations involved in a range of research projects.
The position seeks to improve the strategic research agenda for LiveLighter ® .
Based in Subiaco, this position is full-time, fixed term until 30 June 2026.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the coordination of research and evaluation projects for LiveLighter ® .
- Contributing to the ongoing maturity of evidence-based policies and programs in obesity prevention, nutrition and physical activity in WA.
- Providing research advice to the Food and Movement Programs team, as well as other teams in the CP&R division as required.
- Developing and managing research and evaluation expenditure.
- Developing and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Liaising with research partners and collaborators.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in a health-related field
- A relevant PhD or Higher Degree in Research, with a demonstrated track record in conducting health-related research, including preparation of peer-reviewed journal articles and high-level reports is highly desirable.
- At least 3 years’ experience in planning and leading research projects to inform public health programs or campaigns.
- Knowledge and understanding or obesity prevention, nutrition and physical activity issues will be well-regarded.
- Proficiency and experience in quantitative data analysis using appropriate statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R).
- Proficiency and experience in qualitative data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.
- Demonstrated experience in research translation activities e.g., through agency briefing, internal reporting or publication preparation.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
